Not that baby...morgan is a-ok. But something is wrong with my puppy maverick! So yesterday I let the dogs outside so I could get ready for work, since they would be home alone for a few hours, I wanted to let them get a last minute potty break. Anyway, when I let them in, Maverick was limping oh his back leg. First thought - OMG he got bit by a snake/scorpion! I was seriously getting late for work at this point, so I decided to take all the dogs to my parents house. I couldn't leave them all alone when maverick was like that! So of course, he seems ok when I get him there, so I leave and called in for updates. No limping, whew. Then David picks them up, no limping. We let them outside last night for a little bit since the kids were over, but I could see them through the glass, and maverick was just hanging out on the porch. Then we let him in, and he again starts limping! This time when we checked, there seemed to be some pain if we put pressure against his leg (think pushing up his foot into his body). He limped the rest of the night, and still limped when he woke up this morning. So I called the vet, and asked if I could be seen today because my dog is limping around the house. Of course, as Im on the phone with her, he stops limping and starts walking normally. He even tried to get something off the table by jumping up on it with his front legs. Now I am totally confused. So I tell the lady on the phone, well he just started to put weight on it again. She told me to just keep an eye on him and I set up an appointment at 8am Monday. She gave me the emergency vets number just in case. I asked her when we should go to the evet and she said if he cant walk on it at all for more than a few hours. So he has been doing pretty fine today, until Crosby decided to pick a fight with him, since then he has been limping on it (about an hour) I dont know if I should take him to the evet, or just wait it out. My poor baby. He is moving well, and its not hurting his eating or pottying routine, he seems to just be taking it easy. No pain reflex when I touch the leg, just when I push. It seems like he sprained his ankle or something, I just pray it is NOT valley fever!!! I am so worried. I have been searching for health insurance for him, but all the plans wouldnt go into effect until May 1st, so if he gets diagnosed with something April 28th, its a preexisting condition and we wont be covered! I hate seeing my little guy in pain. He has been resting a lot, but he is a pretty lazy dog, so I think he is okay. Please let everything be okay. I know he is just a dog, but seriously, this dog is like my best friend and I am being totally serious! I just can't lose maverick, I keep thinking about when our puppy riley passed away a year and a half ago, I was so devestated, and we only had him for 3 weeks. I cant think what will happen if I lose maverick, who we have had for 3 years! I have been reading up (aka scaring myself) on valley fever, and fortunately it says that most dogs recover from it. Keep my maverick in your thoughts!
